What are AngelWrite's system requirements? Which Macs does it run on?
AngelWrite runs on macOS 13 (Ventura) or newer. A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) is recommended: local speech recognition is especially fast thanks to the Neural Engine. Intel Macs are supported as well. Three one-time system permissions are needed (microphone, accessibility, input monitoring) — the app guides you through setup. "Input monitoring" sounds stricter than it is: AngelWrite only needs it to detect when you hold your dictation keys (e.g. fn + ⇧). Can AngelWrite rewrite, translate, or shorten selected text?
Yes — that's Rewrite by voice: select text in any app, hold your key, and say what should change ("in German", "shorter", "more formal", "explain this in simple terms"). The result sits on your clipboard; paste it with ⌘V wherever you want. Rewrite is included in Pro & Advanced.
Where does selected text go when rewriting?
The same way as your dictation. If cloud mode is active, the selected text is sent encrypted to the AngelWrite cloud and is not stored there. If local mode is active, it never leaves your Mac. The result lands on your clipboard — pasting is up to you.
Can I use AngelWrite fully locally with my own vocabulary?
Yes. In the Local plan, transcription runs entirely on your Mac — no audio leaves the device. You add your own vocabulary (names, brands, technical terms) to the word list, also locally and without audio, one by one or via CSV import. On first launch AngelWrite downloads a compact speech-recognition model once; after that, local mode works offline.
